On Discord, some people were complaining about the recently released MisBloody, published by Game Nacional, and how it was terrible. I was like, “Since when has Game Nacional ever made a good game?” And somebody immediately replied with Seraph’s Last Stand. I was skeptical, but bought it. And was pleasantly surprised, this was good. To be fair, this was Odd Giant’s creation that Game Nacional just published. The publisher is normally known for crap like Rafa’s World, so having their name attached to something decent is a surprise and a nice way to end off 2023. So let’s begin our review of Seraph’s Last Stand.

So what is Seraph’s Last Stand? It is a Vampire Survivors-like game where you control a wizard and walk and jump around a little level, shooting your wand with ZR. Defeat all the enemies on screen, and you get a choice of several power-ups, ranging from attack damage and health, to lightning bolts and enemy bleeding. In most VS games, the strategy revolves around picked the weapons and items that will give you the ultimate weapons. Here, the strategy is a little different in that, while there a few are ultimate weapons obtained by getting enough picks of the weapon, additional health and damage can make all the difference. You are more free to pick and choose a particular build than you are in other games of this type,

In Seraph’s Last Stand, there are things called Soul Orbs, that are used to unlock new weapons and hats for your wizard. Five of them also allow reshuffling of the power-up. The issue is they drop rarely, and the power-up that allows them to drop more often only does it by one percent. You might go several runs and maybe see one in twenty levels. That’s my only real complaint here. The game is not a looker or sound machine, but it doesn’t need to be in order to be fun, which is where Seraph’s Last Stand shines.

In the end, Seraph’s Last Stand is a fun little game that I enjoyed. I don’t feel this is necessarily a Must Play, but if you’re in the mood for a twist on auto-shooters, you can’t go wrong here. This will get a Recommended with an eight back-end score. Now if Game Nacional can put out more games like this, that’d be nice.
Overall: Seraph’s Last Stand is a fun little twist on auto-shooters that can provide a few hours of fun.

This one looked really cool. And I dig the gameplay concept. I might just check it out.
