When Judging a visual novel, you cannot judge on game play, you judge on the story. Sunlight Scream is a visual novel that is a homage to 90s slasher films. You play a guy named Max who moves to Sunlight City, and gets an ominous phone call, and people start to die. You race against time with your friends to unmask the killer before more people die. Its a pretty standard formula and the killer is exactly who I expected it to be. Although their motivation was along the lines of “you butted in front of me in line, now everyone you know will die!” There’s also 2 girls to romance, and possibly a dude too(not sure on that one). If you go fully down the romance route in Sunlight Scream, there is some very risque scenes but no naughty images.

My biggest problem with Sunlight Scream is the suspension of disbelief. How a jeep plows into a car at full speed, turning the car into a wreck, and then driving off. Trust me, that jeep would be going nowhere, not to mention the driver was probably injured. There are other similarly outlandish kills, but to talk about them would really spoil the plot. But maybe I am nitpicking as I was an indie author years ago, could write this if I wanted to.

Sunlight Scream is a fine visual novel, like I said, I was nit picking. It gets a Recommended with a seven back-end score. It’ll only take a few hours to complete, and there are multiple endings to get if you want.
Overall: Sunlight Scream is a fine visual novel that is a homage to slasher films. Its flaws are rather nit picks.
