Idea is a game which aims high: “Explore gorgeous landscapes, roll down highways, and stumble upon welcoming cottages and abandoned dumpsters. Help your ideas find their way – and share them with the world when they stop, before beginning your journey anew.” You’re letting your ideas out into the world to see where they go. Unfortunately, what this amounts to is letting a light bulb bounce around a satellite image until it hits “an ending.” It is about as interesting as it sounds.

At least it has moving cars.

I’m not sure what the point of IDEA is. The Little Big Planet games did a lot more with the concept of letting your ideas free. Tumbleweed Destiny did more with the simple contemplative game, giving you a full 3D world to roll around in. Letting a light bulb bounce around a map isn’t very interesting or fun, as there is not much to do otherwise. There are pickups which give you more bounces per screen, but that’s it. The game is just bouncing around a screen. That’s it. That’s the game.

Somebody finds your idea and holds it up. The end.

Sure, you can leave your ideas on the map for others to find, but I didn’t see any in my playthrough. In the end, Idea is a game that aims to be profound, yet it is anything but. I’d give this a pass, unless a twelve-dollar game where you bounce a light bulb around a map seems fun to you.

Overall: Idea wants to be profound. It wants to be a game of letting ideas free. It is bouncing a light bulb around.

Verdict: Not Recommended
