When I think of Event Horizon, I think of the 1997 science fiction horror movie starring Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill. It is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

Now that we got that out of way, let’s focus on Event Horizon: Space Defense. In it, you are a guy in a ship. You have a space station. And you face waves upon waves of enemies. You can get new ships and customize them. You can even upgrade and customize your space station. You can hire mercenaries and put them in ships to help you. So you fight enemies in a wave, then between the waves, you can buy and sell items, craft or upgrade items, and recruit and assign mercenaries. You can even do really, really boring side missions(more on that in a second). Event Horizon: Space Defense has honestly a decent game play loop that provides some depth.

Event Horizon: Space Defense is pretty good for what it is, though it has some annoyances. Like the exploration side missions are boring as hell, taking minutes to fly between points, with only the occasional enemy thrown your way. Also the ship I am using continually gets stuck on ships or asteroids and can fly away. Also I cannot figure how you deploy satellites, the tutorials are not in depth, which is necessary for an in-depth game.

In the end, Event Horizon: Space Defense is a fine little game some people might find really fun. I found it fun. Its not perfect, but is very playable. I’ll give it a Recommended.
Overall: Despite being rough in some areas, Event Horizon: Space Defense has a decent game play loop.
Verdict: Recommended
