The e-shop description for Hyper Torque Racing says this:
Move the kart with just the accelerator, brake, and steering wheel. The simplified driving operations give you a deep, authentic racer experience you can enjoy.
What they mean by this is you’re going to get lapped on easy. Yes, Hyper Torque Racing is really, really hard. That’s not the issue, the issue is there’s no tutorial or manual, so you’ll have no idea what you are doing. You kind of have to guess how to get good at this “deep, authentic racer.” I love racing games. I’m not bad at racing games. I’ve played tons of Forza Games, both Horizons and vanilla, among other “racing sim” franchises. I don’t suck there, but I suck here, and I have zero idea why, because there’s no manual or tutorial. Oh there’s a help menu:

That’s it, that’s all the help you’ll get. But enough whining about the difficulty, how the actual game in Hyper Torque Racing? Well, honestly, its fine. Its a racing sim with simplified controls and simplified graphics. The AI could be a bit better, but they seem to just be following the racing lines, which you can turn on with L. There’s a fair number of tracks, ten in the base game, and four added in a large patch for fourteen total. There’s the standard league mode(Hyper Torque Mode), time trial and single race mode. Here’s a video to give you an idea what you are in for:
As you can see, Hyper Torque Racing is alright, which makes the lack of any accessibility features disappointing. It’d be one thing if this was a simple racing game. It’s not. It seems to be hardcore, which is fine, but at least don’t make the average person guess how things works. Or maybe the marketing is paper over the lack of polish. I’m not sure, but either way, this is getting a YMMV with a seven back end score. I can’t dismiss it because its not broken or really even bad, but with no help, I can’t recommend it either, so it’ll get what I feel it deserves.
Overall: Hyper Torque Racing could use some more documentation or a tutorial, as this game is a hardcore racer.
Verdict: YMMV
