I am no stranger to -Tris games. Last month, I reviewed Arcanatris, a decent little Tetris clone with virtually no publicity. This month, here comes Mechatris, a neat little twist on Tetris. You see, instead of manipulating the blocks, you are piloting a mech. You much form lines by punching blocks into place, literally. You can punch either the entire block(via strong punch), or individual blocks that make up the larger blocks. Note you cannot punch them if there is no place to go. There is also a bomb, which destroys little blocks for five points each. You can also bomb jump, launching yourself high into the air, very helpful in certain situations. There is also a standard jump as well. Your goal in Mechatris is to rack up points, destroy blocks and survive as long as possible.

Mechatris’ issue is that isn’t much here. You have the standard mode, and fifteen achievements. The achievements are all related to time, score or blocks destroyed. Other than that, that’s it. There is nothing else. While the introductory sale of $2.99 is a good price, once it invariably goes up to $9.99, there’s no point in getting this. Obviously Game Nacional(of Rafa’s World infamy) is doing a tried and true method of selling, but I think they should have just stuck with the $2.99 price period. Get it while the game is on sale only. Therefore, this gets a Recommended* with a seven score.
Overall; Mechatris is a fine little game, the issue is once the introductory sale is over, it is way overpriced and not worth getting
Verdict: Recommend*(Get in on sale).
Score: 7.
