Fartmania

Tales from the Arcade: Fartmania had the potential to be terrible. It is not. It’s actually pretty good for what it is. There isn’t a lot to it, and its short, but it is far from embarrassing. The premise you are a pig nicknamed Stinky who farts his way up the level to save his pig friends from aliens. The key is that he can infinitely fart(jump) until he hits the walls. If he hits the wall, he cannot fart until he lands on a platform, or a certain amount of time has elapsed. At three points, you fight the alien UFO. Just fart next to the vent sucking air to damage it. In the latter two battles, a laser will fire. Hit the laser and you’ll fall. Defeat the UFO the third time and you win Fartmania.

As you can see above, the game play in Fartmania is good for what it is. Nothing too taxing, and you can’t lose. It took me twenty-six minutes to complete on the first run. And at the end, the game scores you based on how many pigs you saved and how fast you completed it. There doesn’t seem to be an online leaderboard, which is disappointing. The graphics are clean and crisp flash-style. As you can hear in the video, plenty of juicy farts to be had. Overall, Fartmania gets a recommended with an eight back-end score. I liked it, what can I say? The game play hooked me, not the farting, though I’m sure kids will get a kick out of that.

Overall: Fartmania is far better than it sounds. Simple arcade game play that challenges you to get better.

Verdict: Recommended
