Cyberpunk Hacker

Cyberpunk Hacker appears to be clone of a game called Force Reboot, which itself was a take on a game called Post Void, I never played Force Reboot as it never released for the Switch, but I did play Post Void, so I can talk about that. In Post Void, you had constantly draining health and needed to kill enemies to keep your health up while dashing to the end of the level. I actually liked Post Void. This game, well… I have to give MagicProStudio credit where it’s due. They tried hard. The game starts with a surprisingly good cut scene which sets the story. The issue is, in Cyberpunk Hacker, everything is there. The health drain, the dashing, the shooting and the melee attacks. Plus, each level will give you a buff/debuff combo, which changes strategy. But it never really jelled for me, at least in the main mode. Here’s is a video of one run, see you if you can’t spot why.

There’s a clue as the fundamental main problem of Cyberpunk Hacker’s main mode. You have to kill all the enemies in each room to get to the next. Yes, you have to stop and search out the enemies to kill them to proceed to waste precious seconds. That’s what got me in the video above. If I could have run past and lived to the next room, but no, I had to aim poorly at a bot and got killed for it. Fortunately, there is something called Rush Mode, which is more alike to Post Void, everything is the same, except you don’t have to kill the enemies to proceed. I got a lot farther in that than I did in the main mode. And if you’re still struggling in Cyberpunk Hacker, you can turn off the health drain altogether on the main menu.

The story is irrelevant, but at least the cut scene had some production value.

I wanted to trash Cyberpunk Hacker. I wanted to cast it in the Garbage pits and be done with it. But I can’t. The game is honestly alright despite my reservations, especially in Rush Mode. It’s not Force Reboot, but as a budget version, it’ll do. Therefore, I’ll give it a Recommended verdict with a seven back-end score, which is what I gave Post Void. If MagicProStudio can release more games like this and less of the “Award WinningBasketball Anime Girls, that would be awesome!

Overall: Cyberpunk Hacker is an alright Post Void/Force Reboot clone that will satisfy those on a budget as its not bad at all.
