Dungeon & Tales: Warriors and Dragons is a four dollar visual novel where you play as one of four characters delving into a dungeon. There is a human Cleric, an elven mage, a Dwarf warrior and a gnome thief. Each character will face the same basic choices, yet they will handle it differently. For example, you’ll come upon a bunch of goblins. The warrior will simply rage attack them. The thief will sneak past. The Cleric will use Divine magic to protect herself. The mage has another path completely. The game does a good job of differentiating the characters and giving logical solutions based on who the character is.

Dungeons and Tales is short. I beat the dwarf campaign in less than ten minutes, but there seems to be multiple ending for each character. The only real problem I had was the mage path, which delves into obtuse bullshit. Early on, you find a puzzle with no hints and where the logical solutions don’t seem to work. I spent 10 minutes trying answer combos before giving. I’ve posted it below:

If anyone can figure this out, let me know. You die if you get the order wrong.

So other than that, this is a charming little visual novel the won’t hurt your coin purse. Sure its derivative of Dungeons and Dragons, but what isn’t these days? Recommended.

Overall: Dungeon & Tales: Warriors and Dragons is a neat little visual novel where the experience varies wildly based on who you pick to play as.

Verdict: Recommended
