Terminal 81
Real graphics from a 2024 game!

I start off this review of Terminal 81 with a screenshot to show how godawful the graphics are. They’re straight out of 1998… actually that is an insult to 1998 graphics. That is supposed to be a street in Terminal 81, a downtrodden section of Brazil, where young women have been disappearing, and the mayor was removed for corruption. Lit areas aren’t much better to be honest.

A vibrant disco club…

Anyways, you play a young girl who comes to terminal 81 to take a must have opportunity, at a supermarket. Yes, much of this game is spent checking out customers, unclogging toilets and foiling thieves, in between the rest of the plot happening. I didn’t get very far because I stupidly exited out of the game before saving at my apartment, and if I was going to go through another tedious supermarket section, I would have screamed. Pick up item, scan item, put it in the bag. Once all item are scanned. Pick up credit card, put credit card in machine. Wait ten seconds, then pull out card and give card to customer. Then give the bag to the customer. It is as boring as it sounds.

There is a plot to Terminal 81, and the game is pretty open ended, I just didn’t really care to continue. For one thing, there is no voice acting. The plot is relayed via static text. On top of that, nobody is interesting or engaging. Plus, everything is ten times more tedious than they need to be because the game was made for a mouse and keyboard, not thumb sticks. The reviews on Steam are solid, with a very positive rating. This is not going to get a very positive review. Terminal 81 will get a Not Recommended with a five back-end score. It might have gotten a Your Mileage May Vary verdict if everything wasn’t wrapped in an ugly, slow, boring package. Also it is twice as expensive as it is on Steam.

Overall:Maybe Terminal 81 is a good game. I don’t think it was, and I doubt others will either.

Verdict: Not Recommended
