Steam

I have had it with the Nintendo eShop and am moving to Steam. The eShop is all trash, all the time now, and there’s nothing good to review anymore. I could review crap, I guess, but it gets repetitive and my mental health suffers. Take a look at what I have to deal with:

Trash, Trash, Trash!

I can only rant about it so many times, pull my hair out so many times. The Switch is a dead console walking. Granted, it is the end of the year, when releases slow, but I doubt its going to change much in the new year. The Switch 2 is on the horizon, but I’m not waiting any longer for Nintendo to get their house in order. The Game Slush Pile is refocusing on Steam games and minimizing the Switch for the time being.

I am under no illusions that doing this won’t be without its challenges. For one thing, Steam has its own curator system, plus customer reviews. So that means I have to work a little harder to get the word out. That is why, in the new year, I will be starting a Game Slush Pile Steam Group! I will also be branching out into TikToks/Youtube shorts, to spread the word.

Steam has its own share of trash, but its easier to sift through.

There are other reasons for the move to Steam too. The Game Slush Pile makes no money. It is an expensive hobby for me. While I have restarted ads, and have a donations page but make basically nothing from either. I get inundated with Steam keys on Keymailer, which means I can keep game costs down. But fear not, the kind of reviews you have come to expect from me are going nowhere, I just need to work within a tight budget here, and expensive reviews, such as the Rollercoaster Tycoon one just cannot happen anymore.

The Game Slush Pile is not going anywhere, and hopefully onward and upward from here with the move to Steam.

P.S. Any donations to Mordie’s “Buy a Steam Deck Fund” are greatly appreciated!! ^-^
