Minesweeper Classic

For every amazing game I’ve ever reviewed, say, a Tux and Fanny, I have to review ten Minesweeper Classics. Yes, pointless crap like Minesweeper Classic, is this site’s bread and butter. They rarely get many views, but it has to be done, because somebody has to tell the developer, do better! In this case, why does it even exist? Minesweeper has been done better on the Switch, say, Neon Mine, an early review of mine. It suffers from similar issues as Minesweeper Classic, but at least has cooler visuals.

What is Minesweeper Classic?

If you live under a rock and don’t know what minesweeper is, it is a logic puzzle. Numbered squares will tell you how many mines are next to it, and you have to deduce where the mines are. It is a classic, it comes with Windows, you’ve probably already played Minesweeper Classic, in Windows. I no longer have Windows, I installed Linux on my PC for a variety of reasons. That said, Minesweeper Classic is an attempt to mimic the windows game, and does it admirably, I’m just left with, why?

If you absolutely must have Minesweeper on the Switch, I guess Minesweeper Classic does the job. Just don’t expect sound beyond clicks and no bells and whistles whatsoever. This is as bare bones as it gets. Wait, Classic is five dollars. This Minesweeper clone is four dollars. Can’t vouch for that one’s quality, but there you have it anyway. Therefore, for many reasons, the verdict and score is going to wildly split. Minesweeper Classic gets a Not Recommended verdict with a seven score. It doesn’t matter if it does Minesweeper fine with no problems, there has to be more to justify a purchase, and there just isn’t anything.

Overall: Minesweeper Classic is minesweeper, and absolutely nothing else. No reason for existing when its been done better on the Switch.

Verdict: Not Recommended

Score: Seven
