Revenge On Gold Diggers tackles China’s gold digger industry, women who entrap men and steal their money. That’s not me saying that, that’s the game/interactive movie saying that, and it even started an online firestorm over it when it originally released in China last year. It starts with a montage setting the scene. Then the interactive movie starts proper. You follow Wu Yulun, a suave, successful man in the fashion industry, who seeks revenge on the titular gold diggers, in this case, a ring of gold diggers.

Taking Revenge on Gold Diggers!
Revenge on Gold Diggers, as I said, is an interactive movie, with nearly 8 hours of footage. At certain points, you have choices, and these choices will raise or lower obsession level of the woman Yulun is interacting with. The obsession level will control what paths you can take. And these paths will drive you to one of thirty-eight endings. There are seven chapters, obviously there’s an optimal path the game wants you to go to see all seven chapters. It can be not entirely clear on what that is. But even if you get stuck(as I did) you can always go back on standard mode and play a different path(as I will do). However, in Master Mode, you cannot go back and change your choices.

Honestly, I’m not going to get in to the online firestorm or the cultural issues involved in Revenge on Gold Diggers. I’m not Chinese and never been to China. As for the interactive movie, its good with great production values. It is centered around a likable main character. The acting can get melodramatic, but its not bad by any means. The game was even made and directed by a real director, Mark Wu, and it shows.
Revenge on Gold Diggers will get a Your Mileage May Vary with an eight score. The interactive movie will you have you rooting for Yulun, but whether or not you want to play it depends on if you care at all about Chinese gold diggers. The choice is yours.
Overall: Revenge on Gold Diggers is a good interactive movie, but whether or not you want to experience it depends on if you care about the topic it addresses.
